DIY: 3 Homemade Cucumber Face Masks

The hot summer can cause our skin to redden up and complain, but the powerful properties of cucumbers can serve as a great refresher to our skin. These homemade DIY cucumber face masks will make your skin happy and healthy, leaving a fresh, lively face behind!

Cucumber Face Masks

DIY: Cucumber Yogurt Mask

1. 1/2 cucumber

2. 1 tbsp yogurt

This mask is perfect for all skin types. The lactic acid in the yogurt helps exfoliate skin to make it smooth and moisturized. The yogurt also helps for sunburn relief, while fighting pimples and discoloration. Yogurt,  combined with the cooling power of a cucumber, makes for a fully relaxing and beneficial mask.

To make this mask, peel the cucumber. Next, make a puree using both the peeled cucumber and the yogurt. Apply to your face and leave on for 15 minutes. Wash with cold water.

DIY: Cucumber Honey Mask

1. 1/2 cucumber

2. 2 tbsp honey or aloe vera

The honey in this mask promotes elasticity of the skin through its exfoliating properties. Honey also promotes new tissue growth which leads to better looking skin. You can also substitute the honey with aloe vera, which has equally beneficial properties.

To make this mask, follow the same directions as above. Peel and puree the cucumber and then add 1 spoon of honey or aloe vera.

DIY: Cucumber Milk Mask

1. 1/2 cucumber

2. 1/4 cup milk

3. 1 tbsp honey

4. 1 tbsp brown sugar

Brown sugar is another great exfoliant. Combined with the milk and honey, your face will feel fresh and revived. The ingredients in this mask can easily be modified according to what you have in your household.

To make this mask, peel and blend the cucumber into a puree. In a separate bowl, combine the milk, honey, and brown sugar together. Add this mixture to the pureed cucumbers.

  2. Hi Hollie! To be honest, I’m not sure how long it would last because I usually make it and use it on the spot. I would say only store it for 2 days tops. Let me know how it goes!

    1. Hi Mia! What’s great about these masks is that you can substitute other ingredients or try a variety of combinations. The honey adds a thickness that binds the mask together, but I’m sure you could make the mask without using honey. Let me know how the mask worked out for you!

    1. Hi Symphony! I’m not really sure because I always use all natural yogurt. I personally wouldn’t try using flavored yogurt because I don’t know all the ingredients that were used to make the flavored yogurt and how my skin would react to them. Hope this helps!

  3. I just tried a cucumber, aloe gel (couldn’t find an aloe plant ANYWHERE!) and honey. It came out very runny and wasn’t anywhere close to the consistency necessary for a face mask. Did I do something wrong??

  4. Thanks so much for giving me this great facial mask recipe 😉
We used it with my friend during a sleepover it worked out AWESOME!
    Thanks again 🙂

  5. For the second one does the honey supposed to tighten your skin or what. Because I think I want to try that one but I just want to know the purpose of the honey. Thank you

  6. I grow my own organic cucumbers and have an abundance so what I do is purée the entire cucumber with the peel since a lot of nutrients are in the peel itself, I do run a spoon to take out the extra watery middle, then purée. I pour into small ice cube trays and freeze them then storing them in a gallon freezer bag. Perfect amount for a single use. I use just the cuucumber and aloe, colorless aloe. Works great and I usethis when St Ives discontinued their cucumber face and eye gel…love it! Being a Holistic Health Coach here is a tip, do not disregard the peels and stems, they hold valuable nutrients within them giving you more benefits! Along with drinking plenty of water at minimum daily one should drink half their body weight in ounces, example 140 lb converts to 70 ounces of water a day. Plus eating a variety of fruits and veggies such as http://www.heathers.juiceplus.com helps promote health from the inside out!

  7. Hey! Thx for this! And I’m actually writing this comment with the cucumber mask on my face! It feels sooo good! Thx for sharing!

  8. I like diy facial mask and now using facial mask with oatmeal, egg and apple. The recipe is very easy and effective. Ingredients: Apple, Egg Yolk, Oatmeal. Blend these 3 ingredients well. Spread the mixture all over your face. Let the mixture stay for about 20-30 minutes. Rinse it off with pure water. That’s all. You can try this recipe.

  9. I have tried the third recipe, however it is very wet… literally dripping off my chin as I type which is a bit of a downside! However it smells amazing, and it feels as if it is doing the job. Next time however I may try just cucumber and honey, to avoid mushy milky drips all over my clothes! 😉

  10. I have just washed it off, and wow – my skin feels and looks amazing… It was completely worth the milky drips – i highly recommend this, definitely going to give the other two a go in the next few weeks – Thank you! 🙂

  11. I made the same thing as Chaunsey – cucumber, aloe vera gel, and honey. I blended them all together & it was a very runny/liquid consistency.

  12. Hi! Was wondering if you ever freezed the chopped cucumbers to make mask in winter? I have a bunch of cucumbers I’m not going to be able to eat, so was looking for alternative for them and love these masks!

  13. I was wondering if the face masks will reduce red in the cheeks. I’ve had natural red on my cheeks since I was born and I want to even out my skin tone or at least reduce the red.

  14. Hello, im deeply interested in trying this out, though i have researched on how to make a cucumber puree Im still not so positive how to do one that works. Can you please tell me the directions on how to make a puree our of cucumbers? thank you:)
