DIY: Cinnamon Stick Coasters

Hi everyone! Brrrr, it’s so cold outside that my fingers are too numb even to type! Lucky for you, I’ve got a neat way to keep warm inside while enjoying a nice cinnamon-infused scent in the room! These cinnamon stick coasters make a cute placemat for candles and hot drinks. I’ve even noticed that a slight cinnamon scent is left trailing in the room when the candle wax heats up. I decided to make my coasters mini-sized to go along with my mini candles, but you can easily make these a bigger size to hold larger cups and candles. Happy Thanksgiving, and I hope you all enjoy the craft!

Materials: String/Embroidery Thread, Cinnamon Sticks

Step 1: Layout cinnamon sticks of similar size and shape into the length desired

Step 2: Dab a little bit of glue in the center of the stick. This will only be for a temporary hold.

Step 3: Attach the cinnamon sticks.

Step 4: Dab another dot of glue and attach another cinnamon stick.

Step 5: Continue this step until all the cinnamon sticks are glued.

Step 6: Tie a knot with the string on the back of the coaster.

Step 7: Weave the string in and out of the sides of the cinnamon sticks.

Step 8: Once you reach the other side, turn the string around and continue weaving. I decided to repeat steps 7 and 8 to have two layers of string on each stick.

Step 9: Tie a second knot to complete the weaving.

Step 10: Repeat on the other side.
