How to get stronger nails

I love having long nails. It makes creating nail art so much more fun and versatile. But whether you have long nails or short, it’s important to give your nails the special care they need for optimal growth and strength. Here are some neat tricks to try at home to boost your nail strength and reduce breakage.

1. Tea tree oil is one of my favorite oils. It has so many different uses. I researched a bit and found out that it can be used to remove fungus from the nails because of its antibacterial properties.

2. Another oil to try is olive oil. It is a great moisturizer. Either apply to your nails using a cotton swab or give your nails a little bath by dipping them in a pool of olive oil for 5 minutes.

3. Just like our skin, nails also need a bit of moisturizing. Think about it, as we wash our hands throughout the day, our skin often gets dry. Likewise, the continuous washing also affects the nails. I would suggest rubbing a dab of vaseline on at night so your nails will be well moisturized by the morning. Putting socks or gloves on your hands after applying the vaseline will help lock in the moisturized, leaving behind beautiful nails.

4. Always, always, always file your nails in one direction! If you file too vigorously and in both directions, your nails will become more prone to splitting and breakage.
